Fynbos Trail
Walker Bay / Stanford – 145 km from Cape Town
Moderate
The Fynbos Trail is a unique nature experience in the heart of the Cape Floral Kingdom that can be undertaken as a fully guided and catered slackpacking experience or as a self-guided and self-catered option. This three-day, 25km trek, just 2½ hours from Cape Town between Stanford and Gansbaai, has a two or three night option. It takes hikers along a beautiful stretch of trail through unique coastal and mountain fynbos, remote forests and visits some fascinating environmental and social projects along the way. The guided option is highly recommended as the guides have an in depth knowledge of the local flora, adding to the depth of the experience. The three night option includes a coastal cliff path hike and a visit to an unusual cave, this is particularly rewarding during the southern right whale migration season from July to November, when there is a good chance of seeing whales from the shore.
