Hiking & Outdoors
South Africa has often been described as ‘a world in one country’. First time visitors are blown away by the amazing variety of scenery, from magnificent mountains and long white beaches, to semi-dessert and bushveld. The country is probably best known today as the land of Nelson Mandela and ‘big 5’ safaris. The country as a whole is rich in biodiversity and the Western Cape is home the Cape Floristic Region, the smallest of the worlds six floristic regions. This, together with the incredible scenery, makes it a hikers paradise.
Apart from nature, there are numerous cultural and heritage attractions. South Africans are also known as hospitable people with a love of sport and the outdoors.
For those of us with a love of hiking and outdoor activities, there is abundant opportunity to explore many of these areas on foot, although time limitations usually mean that we have to combine hiking with a certain element of driving. Our core products are based on various walking and hiking tours.
Being based in Cape Town, we have a bias towards the Western Cape region, but have links and contacts throughout the country. Over the next few pages we will highlight some of our more popular hikes in the various categories, but will also offer you the opportunity to look at some of the non-hiking activities that can be included in a tour or be part of the day’s activity.
