Classic Tour
An impressive 11 day sightseeing tour, covering the three most popular natural attractions of Cape Town: Table Mountain, the Cape Peninsula and the Stellenbosch wine district, followed by a trip up the R62 to Ostrich farming areas of the Little Karoo before heading for the scenic coastal Garden Route.

Day 1 | Cape Town | Arrival and transfer to your hotel near the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Orientation meeting with your host / guide. The rest of the day at leisure for shopping and orientation. Your host on hand to assist where necessary. Evening – group briefing and hosted African themed dinner. |
Day 2 | Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch | We start the morning with a cable car ride to the top of the iconic Table Mountain, with its incredible views over the city of Cape Town and surrounding suburbs. After spending some time enjoying this environment we descend for the trip to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens via the Southern Suburbs. Your guide will take you on a tour of the Gardens followed by lunch at one of the restaurants. After lunch we transfer to the historic wine estate of Groot Constantia for a tour of the cellar & homestead followed by wine tasting. Overnight at accommodation in Cape Town. |
Day 3 | Cape Peninsula & Boulders Penguin Colony | Travel to Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve via the scenic Chapmans Peak Drive & Boulders Penguins Colony . Visit Cape Point and walk up to the old lighthouse (funicular rail optional) Dinner at historic wine estate. Overnight at accommodation in Cape Town |
Day 4 | Cape Town at leisure | Optional walking tour of Cape Town City with highlights of the historical buildings & heritage.
Note: this free day also allows a degree of tour flexibility, should the cableway be closed due to wind or other weather conditions. |
Day 5 | Stellenbosch Wine Country | Leave Cape Town for Stellenbosch where we will visit two different wine estates and have a short historical tour of Stellenbosch. Lunch on a wine estate. Travel to Franschhoek over the scenic Hellshoogte Pass. Visit the Huguenot Monument in Franschhoek. Enjoy time at leisure in the town of Franschhoek. Overnight in Franschhoek |
Day 6 | Franschhoek Wine Country | After breakfast hop aboard the Franschhoek wine tram for a tour of various wine farms, cellar tours and wine tasting. This is followed by lunch at the Solms-Delta Estate together with a tour of the herb garden and an overview of the interesting history of the area and discovery of stone-age tools and artefacts. Overnight in Franschhoek |
Day 7 | Mossel Bay | After an early breakfast, leave on the five hour drive to Mossel Bay, via the scenic Franschhoek Pass, Houw Hoek Pass and the historic town of Swellendam. In Mossel Bay we get to look at a replica of Caravel ships that brought the Portuguese explorers around the Cape and to visit the archaeological diggings at Pinnacle Point |
Day 8 | Knysna | The next day we take a slow drive through to Knysna along the scenic Garden Route and via the town of Wilderness and the ghost town of the mining village of Millwood. Once checked in to the hotel we spend some time exploring the town. |
Day 9 | Knysna | After a leisurely breakfast we visit the Knysna Heads and do some sightseeing before boarding the ferry for boat ride across the Knysna Lagoon to the Featherbed Nature Reserve. A tractor ride takes us to the high point of reserve from where we take a slow walk back to the jetty with a local guide providing interesting interpretations of the local flora. |
Day 10 | Tsitsikamma | From Knysna we travel to the Tsitsikamma National Park and Storm River Mouth. On the way we stop to visit the Birds of Eden, the Bloukrans River Bridge (to watch daredevils undertaking the highest bridge based bungie-jump in the world) and do a short walk to the ‘Big Tree’ – a 1000 year old giant yellowwood tree. Once checked in to our accommodation we visit the Storms River Mouth and walk across the suspension bridge spanning the mouth. |
Day 11 | Port Elizabeth | Our final day sees us driving to the historic 1820 settler town of Port Elizabeth. The tour ends after a tour of the historic high points of the town. |
