Wellington Wine Walk

Wellington Valley, Western Cape (75km from Cape Town)

Mostly easy

Hike through indigenous fynbos, vineyards, orchards and olive groves, and stop along the way to sample some of the Cape’s best olives, olive oil, cheeses and other farm produce. In the evenings enjoy a wine or brandy tasting. Walk at an easy pace and enjoy the scenery, as well as the cellar tours.

This trail stretches over 14 wine farms from Bain’s Kloof to the foot of the Du Toit’s Kloof mountain pass and takes in two buchu farms, as well as a number of olive groves. The exact route may vary slightly according to season, farming activities and natural fires. Overnight on historic Huguenot farms that offer traditional Cape cuisine and South African hospitality.

This three to four-day trail runs from March to November to avoid the summer heat and closes in the mid-winter months of June & July. Suitable for most with a reasonable level of walking fitness.

Note: this trail is often booked up eight to ten months in advance. Fully booked for 2018
