Cederberg Heritage Route
Clanwilliam
Strenuous
The Cederberg Heritage Route is a series of trails most of which are in northern part of the Cederberg, starting in the Pakhuis Pass area and centred around the towns of Wupperthal, Heuningvlei and Grasvlei. The accommodation and catering is provided by the local community and the guides have all been brought up in the area, with an intimate knowledge of the trails, as well as the culture of the area. It is rough terrain, with the paths traversing uneven, rocky and stony ground in many places. The scenery is awe inspiring, with a myriad of rock shapes and outcrops. It is also part of the Cape Floristic Region, World Heritage Site and an important biodiversity hot spot.
The trails are all three or four days, with exception of the Cederberg 100, which is a 7 day, 100 kilometre hike.
