Itineraries are for example only and although the timing is accurate for the average group, there is a certain amount of flexibility for private groups. The lighthouse at Cape Point is 70 km from Cape Town, with viewing stops along the way. We will advise on the best options according to individual requests, seasonal changes and daily weather conditions.

08h30 Collections from accommodation in the city CBD or adjacent area Travel along the Atlantic seaboard towards Sea Point and visit the ‘Contact Point’ identified by Charles Darwin in 1836
09h00 Drive through the suburbs of Bantry Bay, Clifton and Camps Bay to Hout Bay Scenic drive along the coast pointing out the beaches and places of interest along the way. Stopping at one or two view points to point out features and admire the view.
10h00 Arrival Hout Bay – visit the harbour Stop at the Hout Bay Harbour. Optional boat trip to Duiker Island to look at the seal colony and the views of the Sentinal and Chapmans Peak from the sea (allow an additional hour). Optional visit to the T-Bag Design local craft factory and shop outlet (quality curios – allow and additional 45 min).
11h00 Chapmans Peak Drive Drive over the scenic coastal cliff road between Hout Bay and Noordhoek. Follow the coastal road to Kommetjie, Misty Cliffs and Scarborough
12h00 Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve Drive through the Reserve to the lighthouse area and either walk up or take the Flying Dutchman funicular railway to the lower viewing level.
13h00 Lunch at the Two Oceans Restaurant or alternative picnic After viewing the lighthouse enjoy lunch from this restaurant with views over False Bay and the Point, alternatively we could have stopped at a local deli to select a personal choice of delicious alternatives.
14h00 Visit Cape of Good Hope The Cape of Good Hope parking and viewpoint is at sea level and is the most visited area after Cape Point and the lighthouse. Its position is marked by a marker board.
14h30 Depart Cape of Good Hope for Boulder Penquin Colony A 30 to 40 minute scenic drive along the coast to the naval village of Simonstown and host to the most famous penguin colony in the world
15h15 Boulders Penguin Colony. Spend 30 – 40 minutes viewing these fascinating birds at one of only 3 mainland based colonies in South Africa. This is the closest you will get to a penguin anywhere in the world.
16h00 Depart for Cape Town Drive back to Cape Town via Muizenberg and the Blue Route, with views of the Constantia Wine Region, the Back Table of Table Mountain, the University of Cape Town and Rhodes Memorial.
